. . . I have a request number, and it rings from time to time . . . [Description by Contributor Michael Hagerty] It's the first weekend of the simulcast of KROQ AM and FM (the former KPPC) and Lee Simms is ON! The format, a rock-leaning Top 40 in the 14 months the station was AM-Only, is now WAY more in the album-rock direction. There are LP cuts from Poco, Steely Dan, Dave Mason and Brian Auger's Oblivion Express, plus my favorite near-miss from Marvin Gaye. It's all about the music, the 'scoped version is about 4 minutes! Lee actually talks 3 or 4 times. KROQ is celebrating the new simulcast by going commercial-free, all weekend long. Lee Simms, KROQ Los Angeles, November 16, 1973
