Updated by Jay Philpott, 2007.] Tac Hammer had a long career in Minnesota radio, including Duluth perennial WEBC, and KRSI in the Twin Cities. This aircheck was recorded during Tac's KDWB afternoon drive show on October 19, 1967. Tac was instrumental in the early going at KQRS in the late 70's as their morning man and the PD responsible for transitioning them from a free-form progressive AOR to the Burkhart/Abrams "Superstars" format. In 1977, this set the stage for them to become a market leader in 25-54 adults. Tac was also the longtime PD and air talent at the legendary CHR WLOL (99.5) from 1983 - 1991. He passed away a few years ago, and is dearly missed by the many people who had the good fortune to be inspired by him and enjoy his friendship. |
